Divorce & Separation

Divorce & Separation

Divorce Proceedings

Advice can be provided on Divorce Law and procedure from the issuing of a petition to final pronouncement of a decree absolute.

Children

A specialised aspect of our work is advising of the difficult and emotive issues concerning children. The cases we deal with on behalf of clients in this area include disputes concerning residence and contact, financial claims on behalf of children, adoption and international aspects. We are able to deal efficiently and promptly with any emergency situation which may arise.

We are also specialised in care proceedings, where the Local Authority are involved in removing children form their families representing parents and indeed extended family in this situation.

Financial Arrangements

This is a complex area of Law where we have specialist expertise. We are able to give specialist advice on the existing statute and current case law to ensure the most appropriate outcome for each client dependent upon their own individual circumstances and needs.

Co-habitation

This is another changing area of law and advice can be given on co-habitation, the importance of and the need from the onset for each party to be clear about arrangements for finances and children upon any future separation.

Same Sex Relationships

The law has recently been considerably revised in this respect and advice is recommended to ensure a civil partnership agreement is drawn up, and clearly, we are able to advise on rights that are made available under the legislation should the civil partnership break down. Again, it is vital that clients receive up to date and appropriate advice concerning children and financial issues

Injunctions

We have considerable experience of representing clients seeking protection from the Court and determining the occupation of property.

Mediation

We can advise on which mediation services can offer couples to reach agreement on key issues and ensure that client's are properly advised on the implications of any agreements and such documentation is drawn up which can be recognised and enforceable by the court.

Costs

As indicated above, we hold a franchise with the Legal Service Commission which allows us to provide public funding (Legal Aid) and arrange for such emergency funding.

As we are based outside of the centre, we believe we are able to offer a competitive private client hourly rate and our aim in this regard is always to balance the best possible outcome whilst avoided unnecessary costs.

High quality and confidentiality

We therefore aim to provide the highest and professional representation whilst being entirely supportive to what is often a very difficult process. We ensure each client is fully informed and in control of their case and our wealth of specialism in Family Law includes membership of the Law Societies Family Law Panel and membership of the Specialist Resolution Accreditation Scheme, with particular specialist advanced financial provision and children law experience.
