Catherine McCullagh

Director, Higher Court Advocate (Crime) &, Criminal Defence Solicitor

Catherine studied law at the University of Staffordshire where she achieved an upper second class honours LLB degree in 2001. She joined Parker Bird solicitors in July 2001 as a paralegal and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course in 2003 before qualifying as a solicitor in 2004.  She achieved Duty Solicitor status in 2009. In March 2015 Catherine achieved her Higher Rights accreditation which enables her to appear at the Crown Court. Catherine was appointed Director at the firm in July 2018. Catherine deals with all aspects of Crown Court matters through to trial. She handles a broad range of cases from the most minor of offences through to the most serious, high profile cases.

Catherine deals with all aspects of Criminal Defence work, from representing clients at the police station through to the conclusion of their case at the Magistrates or Crown Court. Catherine has a particular interest in preparing more serious crown court cases for Trial as this allows her to utilise her well-honed analytical skills and her proven track record in attention to detail.  Catherine has a real passion for defending the most vulnerable people in our society. She prides herself on her ability to communicate effectively with all Clients and has a wealth of experience in representing vulnerable Defendants, from young people to those with learning disabilities or mental health disorders. Catherine seems to have a natural gift when it comes to communication and shows real empathy and understanding.

Outside of work Catherine enjoys eating out and walks in the countryside and has a keen interest in Languages.
