Ian Whiteley

Managing Director, Higher Court Advocate (Crime), Criminal Defence Solicitor

Ian is the Managing Director at the firm. Ian studied for his Common Professional Exams and his Bar Finals at the University of Manchester. Ian qualified as a Barrister in 1990 and thereafter as a solicitor in 1991. He has been a Higher Court Advocate since 2008. He joined Parker Bird solicitors in 1992 as a solicitor and became a partner in the firm within 12 months and thereafter an equity partner within 2 years. Ian was one of the forming partners of Parker Bird Whiteley in 2006 following the dissolution of Parker Bird. Ian prides himself in spotting talent in employees which is reflected by the growth of new solicitors and staff members who have progressed from trainees to Directors of the firm.

Ian is an excellent trial advocate who passionately defends the trickiest of cases. He has an attention to detail which reflects in his advocacy skills. Ian’s expertise covers all aspects of criminal law, from arrest and interview to representation at both the Magistrates Court and Crown Court. Ian specialise in high profile, murder and serious crown court cases, as well as all aspects of magistrates court advocacy and road traffic law.

Outside of work, Ian is a keen golfer and enjoys physical activity and keeping fit, you can often find him at the gym or running a 10k. He is an well honed wine connoisseur and a keen reader of novels.
