Zara Begum

Director, Higher Court Advocate (Crime), Criminal Defence Solicitor & Housing Law Specialist

Zara studied law at the University of Huddersfield from 2001-2004 where she gained an LLB honours degree. She went on to complete the Legal Practice Course in 2005. Zara joined Parker Bird Whiteley in March 2010 as part of both the criminal and civil litigation teams. She completed her training and subsequently qualified as a Solicitor in March 2013 and shortly thereafter achieving her Higher Rights accreditation enabling her to represent clients at the Crown Court and qualifying as a Higher Court Advocate. She was appointed a Director in the firm in April 2017.

Zara deals with all aspects of Police Station, Magistrates and Crown Court matters through to trial. Her expertise range in cases from the most minor of offences through to the most serious, high profile cases including murder, serious an complex fraud, drugs conspiracies, firearms and serious crown court cases. Zara has build a strong reputation and client bases on recommendation of clients both past and present. Zara is fluent in Urdu, Punjabi and Mirpuri, providing ease of access to those clients whose first language isn’t English.

Outside of work, Zara loves travel and vacations. Although a workaholic, you might find Zara enjoying some down time away from work or catching up on her interest in reading of old and modern literature.
